I construct this book using Vachetta leather, a full grain, veg-tanned cowhide that is tanned in Tuscany, Italy. This superior quality leather is silky to the touch and has a light matte finish that allows the natural character of these flawless hides to show through. It is a firmer leather than the leather I use on my regular checkbook organizers. While it costs more, it has more of a premium feel making the extra expense worth it. This leather also makes it more complicated to make these books, taking extra time to produce. But the beautiful results are worth the investment.
